Dymatize ISO100 Nutrition Facts Explained Line by Line

Muscle House India 0 comments

The Dymatize ISO100 nutrition label packs a lot into a small panel. Once you know what each line means, you can tell exactly what you are getting in every scoop, compare it fairly with other proteins, and spot when a cheaper tub is cutting corners.

Below we go through the ISO 100 label line by line, using the Gourmet Chocolate flavour as the example. Figures change slightly between flavours, so always check the label on your own tub.

The headline numbers at a glance

Per 32g scoop (Gourmet Chocolate) Amount
Protein 25g
Energy 119 kcal
Carbohydrate 2g
Fat 1g
Added sugar None
BCAAs 5.5g
Leucine 2.6g
Glutamine (incl. glutamic acid) 4.4g
Servings per 5 lb (2.3 kg) tub 71

Serving size: 32g

One level scoop weighs about 32g. Every other number on the label refers to this amount, so if you use a heaped scoop or half a scoop, your intake changes with it. If you are tracking macros closely, weigh your first few scoops on a kitchen scale. Scoops often settle at the bottom of the tub during shipping, so dig it out with a clean, dry spoon.

Protein: 25g

This is the reason you bought the tub. Twenty-five grams of protein in a 32g scoop means roughly 78 percent of the powder by weight is protein, even after flavours and sweeteners are added. That is a high ratio, and it comes from using hydrolysed whey protein and whey protein isolate rather than cheaper concentrate.

Dymatize also includes a Protein Ethics declaration on ISO 100. It states that all of the protein on the label comes from intact protein. Some brands inflate their protein number by adding cheap amino acids like glycine, a practice known as amino spiking. The declaration means the 25g figure is real protein.

Energy: 119 kcal

Protein, carbohydrate and fat all provide calories. Protein and carbs give about 4 kcal per gram, and fat gives about 9 kcal per gram. With 25g of protein, 2g of carbs and 1g of fat, the numbers add up to roughly 117 kcal, which matches the 119 on the label.

For context, a typical whey concentrate with the same protein often lands somewhere between 130 and 150 kcal. If you drink two shakes a day during a cut, those differences add up over a month.

Carbohydrate: 2g, with no added sugar

The filtering that turns whey into isolate removes most of the lactose, which is milk's natural sugar. That is why ISO 100 has only about 2g of carbohydrate per scoop. There is no added sugar; the sweetness comes from sucralose.

This makes ISO 100 a practical option on low-carb diets. Anyone managing blood sugar for a medical reason should still check with their doctor before adding any supplement.

Fat: 1g

Isolate filtering also removes most of the milk fat. One gram per scoop is low enough that ISO 100 fits easily into a strict fat-loss plan. If you want more calories, for example during a bulk, mix it in milk instead of water.

BCAAs: 5.5g

Branched-chain amino acids are leucine, isoleucine and valine. They are found naturally in whey; they are not added separately in ISO 100. The 5.5g figure is simply part of the 25g of protein, broken down to show you the amino acid profile.

Leucine: 2.6g

Leucine is the amino acid most closely linked to switching on muscle protein synthesis after a meal. Many researchers suggest that a meal with around 2 to 3g of leucine gives a strong muscle-building signal. One scoop of ISO 100 sits comfortably in that range, which is one reason whey is so effective per gram compared with many plant proteins.

Glutamine: 4.4g

The label lists glutamine together with glutamic acid. Like the BCAAs, it comes naturally from the whey protein and is part of the 25g total. You do not need to buy a separate glutamine supplement to get it.

Ingredients and allergens

The main protein sources are hydrolysed whey protein and whey protein isolate. ISO 100 contains milk and soy. The Chocolate Peanut Butter flavour also contains peanut. It is sweetened with sucralose and contains no added sugar. Dymatize does not recommend it for children.

Quality and testing

  • Banned-substance tested, which matters for athletes in tested sports.
  • Made in GMP-certified facilities.
  • Protein Ethics declaration: no amino spiking.
  • In India, the label also carries the importer's details: Muscle House (I) Pvt Ltd, New Delhi.

Servings and how long a tub lasts

A 5 lb (2.3 kg) tub contains 71 servings. At one scoop a day that is a little over two months. At two scoops a day, it lasts about five weeks.

How to mix it

Add one scoop to 150 to 180 ml of water, milk or another drink and shake or stir. ISO 100 dissolves easily, so a shaker bottle is enough and you rarely need a blender. One of our customers in Mumbai mixes it with just a spoon and says it does not clump.

How the flavours compare

ISO 100 is available in Gourmet Chocolate, Fudge Brownie, Cinnamon Churro, Strawberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Gourmet Vanilla, Fruity Pebbles, Birthday Cake Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles and Cookies & Cream. Numbers vary slightly between flavours because of the different flavouring ingredients, so compare labels if you track macros to the gram.

How to compare ISO 100 with another protein

  1. Divide protein by scoop weight to get the protein ratio. Higher is better.
  2. Check calories per 25g of protein, not per scoop, since scoop sizes differ.
  3. Look for leucine of at least 2g per serving.
  4. Check whether the brand declares no amino spiking.
  5. Check the importer details and FSSAI licence on imported tubs.
